Virtual Open House

To all of our prospective UMD FIRE students, I would like to welcome you to our website. Thank you for taking the time to explore our program and learn more about us. FIRE provides first-year students a mentored research experience that drives accelerated personal and professional development and fearless career readiness. We are excited to know you are interested and would like to know more. Under normal circumstances, we would be present at the university’s Admitted Student Open Houses. Regrettably, the open houses scheduled for April 3 and April 10 cannot be held because of health and safety concerns. We wish that we could meet you in-person to talk more about FIRE and answer your questions. To help you better understand FIRE, we put together the Open House page on our website, which contains an overview of the program, answers to frequently asked questions, and provides details on joining FIRE. I will also be hosting online Zoom sessions on April 3 and April 10 at 4pm EST to talk more about the program and answer your questions. In the meantime, I invite you to explore the rest of our website to read more about the program, discover FIRE research opportunities, and read what our students have to say.

I hope that you find these resources helpful and that you will be able to join one of the two online chats. In the meantime, any questions about joining FIRE can be sent to me at ibpage@umd.edu.

Sincerely, Ian Ian Page, PhD Associate Director of FIRE University of Maryland
